On Friday, we were delighted to welcome Simi, Kamile and Lorna from the City of London Corporation who had attended COP30 in Brazil for an inspiring assembly focused on sustainability and climate action.
Simi, Kamile and Lorna shared first-hand insights into the conversations they led at COP30 Brazil, the outcomes of the conference and the role of global collaboration in tackling climate change.
Their visit built on the momentum of the Autumn Term’s COP30 sustainability efforts, during which our Eco Society hosted various activities and workshops and produced a thought-provoking magazine to raise awareness of environmental issues during COP30 fortnight.
Our guests encouraged pupils to consider how meaningful action often begins at a local level, highlighting practical steps that our school community can take to make a positive impact, such as getting involved in London Climate Action Week in June. They also offered valuable insight into careers in sustainability, global policy and innovation, inspiring pupils to consider future pathways in this vital and growing field.
We are extremely grateful to Simi, Kamile and Lorna for their time and for engaging so thoughtfully with our pupils. Their visit reminded us of our commitment to sustainability as a community, as we look forward to participating in national initiatives next half-term, including the Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean and the Everyday Plastic Big Plastic Count, alongside our own creative ‘Trash to Treasure’ competition, transforming recycled materials into works of art.
