Transition to Senior School

Admissions
Five schoolgirls wearing red jumpers, white shirts, and grey skirts walk down steps outside a brick school building with a wooden door.

The move from Preparatory/Junior to Senior School is an exciting step, and we are committed to ensuring every pupil joining us in Year 7 (Thirds) feels welcomed, supported and confident.

Three schoolgirls in red uniforms sit at desks with laptops in a classroom; one girl is smiling whilst another looks thoughtful.

We visit all feeder schools to gain a well-rounded understanding of our incoming pupils, helping to create a smooth and personalised start.

Thirds (Year 7) enjoy a stimulating and broad curriculum from the outset. Baseline testing ensures teaching is tailored to each pupil’s academic needs. Every new pupil is paired with a Friendly Fifth Former (Year 10), offering a friendly face and a helping hand as they settle in.

Pastoral care is central to the transition process. Pupils benefit from the support of a dedicated Form Tutor, daily check-ins and a weekly extended form time. Our School Nurse and Counsellors are also on hand to support wellbeing. Parents are kept closely informed through regular updates via My School Portal and weekly newsletters (FH Post), Parents’ Evenings and other informal events.

This carefully structured start lays the foundations for a successful and fulfilling Senior School journey.
