ETHOS & VALUES

About Us

What makes us ‘us’? A fantastic, balanced education. A supportive, friendly, happy community. Brilliant pastoral care. These three things, underpinned by our values, set us apart.

WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT

COMPASSION

Our pupils are guided to respect and celebrate others’ differences and needs. They’re encouraged to be kind, considerate and support our pupil-led charitable initiative: the Help Fund. They should be able to demonstrate empathy in everyday life and make a positive contribution to society.

KNOWLEDGE

Curious, intellectually enquiring, ambitious, forward thinking, creative, imaginative, seeking challenge and inspiration – that’s how we think of our pupils. We hope they’ll foster a lifelong love of learning and embrace the many academic and co-curricular opportunities available here.

PERSEVERANCE

We encourage pupils to be bold, resilient and flexible so they can adapt to the demands of an ever-changing world. They’re free to take risks, step out of their comfort zone and develop strength and inner confidence to overcome challenge and adversity. We celebrate effort as well as achievement and contribution.

SPIRIT

We’re a Church of England school with Christian values and are respectful and mindful of different faiths and beliefs. Our pupils are proud of our FHS spirit: our history, traditions and community.
