In the Lower Fifth and Upper Fifth girls study 7 core subjects (2 x English, Mathematics, a Modern Foreign Language, and three Sciences) and three or four option subjects. Each will have 2 x 45 minute approx. homework allocations.
In the Sixth Form, there is a rule of thumb that the amount of time girls study on their own is at least equal to the amount of time of taught lessons. Of course, there will be times that the students have heavier work commitments with more or less written work. All girls do four AS subjects with 7/8 lessons a week (depending on subject), although some study five AS subjects. In the Upper Sixth some drop down to three A levels with 8 lessons each, although quite a few keep continue with four.
